Sister Ardeth Platte (left) and Sister Carol Gilbert Washington Times photo
Sister Carol and Sister Ardeth have been labeled terrorists, wrongfully, in the federal database.
I, once again not being Catholic, would like to know what in the world kind of nuns these represent?
Is the work they do the work of God?
These nuns have been in prison:
Sister Carol and Sister Ardeth make no apologies for their actions and demonstrations in the past. In 2002, the two, along with another nun, broke into a nuclear missile site in Colorado and used their own blood to paint crosses on a silo. Sister Ardeth was sentenced to 41 months and Sister Carol was sentenced to 33 months in federal prison.

Is what these nuns do fitting in with the vows they have taken?
Poverty The vow of poverty leads a nun to imitate Jesus who for our sake became poor, although he was rich. It helps her to be poor in spirit as well as in fact, and to live a life of labor and moderation. By the vow of poverty , she gives up the right to control or benefit from personal property and commits herself to live interdependently within a community, according to its constitutions. The purpose of this vow is to free her from being fascinated by material things so that she may be free to serve others.
Chastity The vow of chastity leads a nun to imitate Jesus who was chaste. This vow frees her from the demands of an exclusive human relationship so that she can give all her love to God, and through God to all people. By the vow she promises not to marry or to engage in romantic behavior or sexual acts.
Obedience The vow of obedience leads the nun to imitate the obedience of Jesus Christ. By seeking God's will for her and obeying her lawful superiors according to the constitutions of her particular group. As a member of her religious community, she searches for the will of God, not in arbitrary commands, but in prayerful reflection and dialogue with others.
Even reflecting upon a Dominican Nun in the United States, I do not see how the activites of these two nuns fits into their service.
Definitely not singing nuns, that’s for sure, although, while in prison, perhaps they sang like caged birds.

 Felix Barrett / Revolution Newspaper
My story was going to start one way, and totally shifted after I did some investigating when I was downloading a photo from the original story I’l be linking. You see, the date of the photo didn’t correspond with the story, so it got me wondering. I did some searching and found that the photo, along with the one above, was from November of 2007. But first, back to why I was originally blogging about this story.
Philadelphia Daily News writer, Will Bunch, had the opportunity to ask Barack Obama if his administration would take on the former Bush administration for the fact that they supposedly allowed "torture."
Here is an excerpt from Bunch's article:
Tonight I had an opportunity to ask Barack Obama a question that is on the minds of many Americans, yet rarely rises to the surface in the great ruckus of the 2008 presidential race -- and that is whether an Obama administration would seek to prosecute officials of a former Bush administration on the revelations that they greenlighted torture, or for other potential crimes that took place in the White House.
Obama said that as president he would indeed ask his new Attorney General and his deputies to "immediately review the information that's already there" and determine if an inquiry is warranted -- but he also tread carefully on the issue, in line with his reputation for seeking to bridge the partisan divide. He worried that such a probe could be spun as "a partisan witch hunt." However, he said that equation changes if there was willful criminality, because "nobody is above the law."
The question was inspired by a recent report by ABC News, confirmed by the Associated Press, that high-level officials including Vice President Dick Cheney and former Cabinet secretaries Colin Powell, John Ashcroft and Donald Rumsfeld, among others, met in the White House and discussed the use of waterboarding and other torture techniques on terrorism suspects.
And the complete article ê here
Obama would ask his AG to "immediately review" potential of crimes in Bush White House
Let's all remember, we've waterboarded a couple terrorists....and we haven't seen a terrorist attack on U.S. soil since 9-11....
So, now back to the picture.
Here we see a demonstration of waterboarding.
That got me a bit interested.
A "demonstration?"
Why do we need a demonstration of "torture?"
If waterboarding is indeed "torture," who in their right mind is going to demonstrate the procedure, especially if it is so bad?
Would you demonstrate attaching electrical wires to someone and firing them up?
Mutilating someone?
I checked these photos out and found that this "demonstration" was at none other than UC Berkeley!
Well, go figure.
People want war crime trials against the former Bush administration - Ashcroft, Rumsfeld and Powell - for discussing waterboarding?
How about these liberal Berkeley students demonstrating ...no, correction....actually performing waterboarding?
How about prosecuting these men for performing "torture" on a fellow U.S. citizen?
Let's check out the entire "demonstration" at Berkeley ç here
Is there ever any police presence in Berkeley?
Oh, wait, I do recall seeing some when Code Pink was blocking the doors of the Marine recruiting center illegally.
They just let it go on.
So I guess the answer is no, there really isn't any police presence in Berkeley
There are just liberals.

Hopefully, being the good parent that you are, you know where your teen is spending his or her evenings.
And you know his or her friends and their parents.
And, like most parents, you would never host an underage drinking party at your home.
But, what if your teen ends up at a home where a parent allows such a party?
A group of teens obtained alcohol somewhere, somehow, and brought it home, and the parent allows it.
What if your teen, arrives at this home, sees what is going on, knows s/he should leave, makes the wrong choice and decides to stay?
After all, so and so’s parent is there…
Your teen stays, drinks too much, and leaves, driving drunk.
Your teen has an accident and hurts, or unimaginably, kills someone.
Your teen made the decision to drink and drive.
That parent knew your child had alcohol, but didn’t know your teen was intoxicated or driving drunk.
Well, guess what?
“Wisconsin adults who allow underage drinking parties on their properties cannot be held liable if guests later get into drunken driving accidents, the state Supreme Court ruled.”
Now, this law is specifically in regards to adults who are not providing/serving alcohol to the minor. Wisconsin does have a law regarding responsibility in that case. This law was imposed regarding minors who brought the alcohol into the home where the parent did not know the minor left the home intoxicated. It also would apply if the parent was out of town and a minor held a party on the property.
What do you think about this?
Fair?
Especially if you are away and the teen throws a party?
Or, dead wrong?
It’s still your house, your kid, you are responsible for what goes on there. And, where there is alcohol and teens, there will be intoxication…it’s just a fact.
What say you?

It is bad enough that when I have a cold and want to purchase certain types of cold remedies at the store I now have to show my drivers license and give my signature.
This inconvenience because drug users choose to make meth out of cold remedy ingredients.
So, when a pharmacy has been closed, I have had to suffer with symptoms until the next day because an over-the-counter drug that used to be on the shelves is now locked up, instead of the criminals.
Now, a Chicago City Council wants to ban certain small plastic bags because they are the type that drug dealers use to pedal small quantities of drugs.
These are the types of bags you see attached to clothing that have extra buttons in them, or bags that might have repaired jewelry put into them.
Once again, businesses and the general, law abiding public are supposed to make concessions because criminals are out of control.
Once again, something legal...this time a plastic bag...must be banned, in order to thwart crime.
Once again government must micro-manage the lives of good people because it can't seem to manage a way to fight criminals.
It's time to stop the insanity.
Government needs to stop taking the easy way out.

It has been reported from the United Kingdom that hundreds, 1500 to be exact, non-Muslim Brit's have been recruited by Al-Qaeda to form a "white army of terror" and carry out attacks within the United Kingdom. The white recruits are sought out in places such as prisons, where the individuals are susceptible to being converted out of loneliness and the need for comfort and support. Religion is most often not mentioned, and radical planning and intentions proceed as time moves on. These claims are being disputed by Muslim leaders. Read about the recruitment in NEWS.scotsman.com Al-Qaeda's White Army of Terror ç here
P.S.
It’s interesting to read some of the U.K. citizen’s comments on the site of the article to see their perspective on things. One even says “I don’t believe that Al-Qaeda exists.”

New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine signed a law approved by lawmakers last week abolishing the death penalty in the northeastern US state. Now the Democratic governor commuted the sentences of eight inmates, sentenced to death, to life in prison with no chance for parole.
_______________________
Well, I wouldn't expect anything less from a soft, liberal Democratic Governor.
New Jersey just can't seem to make up its mind on the Death Penalty.
"Install it." "Uninstall it."
With violent crime rates going up in this country, more of the 13 states currently without the Death Penalty should be considering it rather than states that have it abolishing it.
Now what will most likely happen is some states will be keeping an eye on New Jersey and their violent crime rate; specifically their murder rate.
If the murder rate does happen to go down, I wouldn't be surprised if more states "uninstall" the Death Penalty. That might leave mostly southern states with capital punishment.
A big mistake in my book.
Let's hope New Jersey doesn't have many more John Allen Muhammad's or John Lee Malvo's in the near future.
Why must we go soft on murderers?

Sara Jane Moore, whose 1975 assassination attempt on President Gerald Ford was foiled in San Francisco, was released today from a Dublin prison.
Moore, 77, had been scheduled for release on Tuesday, but she was instead freed a day early.
Moore pleaded guilty to attempted assassination and was sentenced to life in prison. She was released after 30 years because she had not broken prison rules, said Tom Hutchison, chief of staff for the U.S. Parole Commission.
The mother of four children, Moore fired a single pistol shot at Ford on Sept. 22, 1975, as the president stood in front of the St. Francis Hotel, near Union Square. She missed, mostly because a bystander knocked her arm away as she fired.
Her attempt came less than three weeks after Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme pointed a loaded revolver at Ford in Sacramento. She was arrested before she could fire a shot.

So will we release Charles Manson next?
I'm so happy Moore didn't break any rules while in prison.
What a good girl she was.
Life should be Life..... I don't care if she is 100 years old.

According to Eric Haas, of the Rockridge Institute, "On the issue of immigration, politicians and much of the mainstream media are playing with our minds. By repeating the phrase "illegal immigrants," they're creating a misleading stereotype. It's inaccurate. And, it's distracting us from the real issue -- economic exploitation of all low-wage workers in the United States."
He further goes on to say, "Branding people with the Scarlet "I" creates a fearful stigma. The vast majority of immigrants, whatever their legal status, are law-abiding members of society. Yet, the "illegal" description is so pervasive that it has us thinking about punishment and revenge, instead of solutions to the real problem -- the economic exploitation of people, both immigrant and native-born."
And then, "And the American Immigration Law Foundation tells us the likely reason why:
The problem of crime in the United States is not 'caused' or even aggravated by immigrants, regardless of their legal status. This is hardly surprising since immigrants come to the United States to pursue economic and educational opportunities not available in their home countries and to build better lives for themselves and their families. As a result, they have little to gain and much to lose by breaking the law. Undocumented immigrants in particular have even more reason to not run afoul of the law given the risk of deportation that their lack of legal status entails.
"Sounds more like a good neighbor than a criminal."
Then Mr. Haas goes on to give one example of a good illegal immigrant, Jesus Manuel Cordova Soberanes, who rescued a 9-year old boy from a car wreck on Thanksgiving.
See his full article, from Rights & Liberties, Losing Our Minds Over Immigration ç here. _____________
Oh, please, Mr. Haas!
Not so fast....
"Sounds more like a good neighbor than a criminal."
Let's talk about some criminal activity of ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS.
And yes, that's what they are.
I will say it.
There are thousands of innocent Americans who have been raped, murdered, kidnapped, mobbed or otherwise criminally harmed by foreigners who have no right to be in our country. The high incarceration rate of illegals shows that many do not come here to work, they come here to commit crimes.
An article from 2006 in World Net Daily ç states that: “While the military "quagmire" in Iraq was said to tip the scales of power in the U.S. midterm elections, most Americans have no idea more of their fellow citizens – men, women and children – were murdered this year by illegal aliens than the combined death toll of U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan since those military campaigns began."
"Illegal immigrants murder 12 Americans Daily."
In Search of a Better Life...
"While legal immigrants and illegal aliens come to America for an improved standard of living, those millions of foreigners are decidedly harming the quality of life for many in this nation — from those who have been displaced in their jobs by cheap immigrant workers to taxpayers paying for endless infrastructure and services, students getting a worse education in radically “diverse” classrooms and crime victims who have suffered at the hands of criminal aliens in this country. "
"The Immigrations Human Cost website is dedicated to telling the stories of forgotten citizens who still hope that their American dream will not be extinguished. We continue to hope for a better America for the next generation, too, although that tradition is just as endangered by irresponsible mass immigration as our natural resources and the individual freedoms that have been our birthright up to now."
Please view this website. Some of the murders committed by illegal immigrants are so shocking, it is unbelievable! Just good neighbors ....

CBP in Norfolk, Va. Intercepts Smuggled Socks Worth More than $1.5 Million
Norfolk, Va. — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Norfolk, Va. port of entry made a significant seizure of socks that had been smuggled into the U.S. over several months and had false country of origin markings.
CBP officers and import specialists discovered the socks in six overseas shipping containers. The shipments arrived during a period from May to November. More than 2,900 cartons seized had a domestic value of more than $1.5 million.
CBP was able to determine that socks manufactured in China had been commingled with socks produced in Ghana. Many of the Chinese-origin socks were declared to CBP not only as products of Ghana, but as eligible for duty-free treatment under the African Growth and Opportunity Act, legislation designed to provide trade benefits to eligible sub-Saharan African nations. (More information: ( African Growth and Opportunity Act ) .)
Working with other federal agencies and the government of Ghana, CBP was able to determine that Chinese socks were imported into Ghana for subsequent exportation to the United States. Strong enforcement provisions within the Africa growth act legislation, including the requirement of an effective visa system by beneficiary countries, and close cooperation with Ghana Customs authorities contributed to the enforcement actions taken by CBP.
The incorrect origin claims appear to have been made in an attempt to circumvent a Memorandum of Understanding between the governments of the United States and the People’s Republic of China that sets import levels for certain textile products. A directive to the Commissioner of CBP from the Chairman of the Committee for the Implementation of Textile Agreements mandates that CBP implement such levels. ( More information: ( China Textile MOU ) .)
"CBP's primary responsibility is preventing terrorists and terrorist weapons from entering the country, while facilitating the flow of legitimate trade and travel,” said Mark J. Laria, CBP’s area port director. “This is a case of illegitimate trade that provides an unfair advantage over those obeying import laws."
CBP maintains a robust trade enforcement program to ensure compliance with laws and regulations governing all imports. Many different schemes are used to evade duty or quotas on imported textile and apparel goods. Some of these are circumvention of quotas by illegal transshipment (changing the country of origin of the goods), providing false documents, using false labels or providing incorrect descriptions of the merchandise.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of the nation’s borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws. ___________________________________________
Alright, so are you surprised to hear that CHINA is involved in this, too?
What the hell is going on with China anyway? Toys, pajamas, toothpaste, now SOCKS?
Maybe it is time to re-think very carefully about just WHERE we are
OUTSOURCING our businesses.
Especially when China executes the former head of its food and drug agency. WHAT does that tell us?
It used to be embarrassing to have something in your home that said “made in China” on it – you know, “low quality.”
Unless it actually was “china.” Now, I look at tableware that says “made in China” on it and I’m afraid to cook with it. No
one has said don’t use cookware yet. But if there is lead paint in toys, is there lead paint in my pie plate?
So what do you think about all of this?
We’re supposed to be looking out for terrorist attacks and we’re fooling around with SOCKS?
What do you think about China, the recalls and even outsourcing in general?
I can tell you, I’m a little bit “unglued” about ALL of it!
P.S.
Please don’t send me to India to speak with someone, who I can barely understand, named “Bob,” who really has the
name "Chiranjeet."
Yeah, that really happened.
He was “Bob” when he was “helping” me. Then he asked if I would send an email to customer service stating he was of
“great service.” First he had to email me a link. The link comes and lo and behold, there is his real name. “Chiranjeet.”
Go figure.
