Eddie Lynn Keck - CASE CLOSED

By Janet Evans
Monday, Sep 8 2008, 11:50 AM

I don't know why I checked the Wisconsin Court System's site...something just made me do it.

I knew Eddie Lynn Keck had been sentenced on September 3rd...I guess I knew sometimes additional text is added to the site after the trial.  So I went back.

I was surprised to see "Case Closed" already.  I remember when it would take months to get cases updated on the site.  I was more surprised by what I found when I entered the case.  I didn't expect to see the detail and it just gave me a heavy heart....

Eddie Lynn Keck Sentencing - Do You think He will find God in Prison? (09/06/08)
_______________________________________________________________

Eddie Lynn Keck was sentenced to 36 years in prison for killing of Gary Kitchen, 53, and his wife, Barbara, 52.

Now the special prosecutor will be sending his recommendations to our Licensing Committee of Alderman Solomon, Alderman Taylor and Alderman Wilhelm so they can make a determination as to what should happen to the Buckhorn Tavern and bartenders licenses.

So, does the Committee go solely off of that recommendation?  Who knows...we will wait as the wheels of "due process" turn.

In the meantime, as Keck goes off to prison, I wonder if he will find God, as so many criminals do while they are locked up.  I ask because of a comment I received on this yesterday from "Suzanna."   I don't know if Keck is a religious man already.  Perhaps he is.  But the topic of the comment was forgiveness.  It's an interesting read.  Check it out below.

What did the “alleged victim” of counts 2 and 4 have to say about the plea agreement?

Merry Christmas, Eddie!

At least the plea agreement wasn't for counts 1 and 3 to be dismissed rather than 2 and 4...let's hope the sentences run consecutively...but it would be insanity of they didn't.

Maybe now the Buckhorn issue will move along and the Common Council will "speak" again.

Eddie Lynn Keck's sentencing has been adjourned twice. The original sentencing date of 7/23/2008 was adjourned to 7/30/2008 pending completion of the Pre-Sentencing Investigation. Then the sentencing hearing was adjourned to the current date of 9/3/2008, again pending receipt of a private PSI ordered by the defense. Private PSI? oh boy, I'm sure they want to show that E.L.K. is the victim of some terrible psychological affliction. Yeah, scum of the earth disease.

In the mean time... we don't have to worry about the Franklin Common Council... zzzzzzzz... flying off the handle and irrationally taking some unfounded action against the offending establishment, The Buckhorn Tavern. Even though the special investigating attorney has advised the Franklin Licensing Committee (back in June) to hold a hearing at will; the elected officials of Franklin cannot muster the intestinal fortitude to take authorative action.

It's so easy to set back and point fingers at others.  We, people that is, like to judge without any reprecussion to one self.  I guess I've been miss informed all these years.  I didn't know God made "Scum of the earth disease".  I'm fairly certain God and Christ are the only ones who are perfect.  I am a Christian.  I strive on a daily basis to live as Christ did here on earth.  Being that I'm human I will make many mistakes in life.  Some small others horrific.  I ask for forgiveness and say I'm sorry.  By my future actions will they know the truth of my word.

I'm sorry for the loss of two human lives.  I don't drink.  I pray I can bring honor to the Kitchen couple by fighting aganist Alcoholism.  My future will tell I am sincere.  I leave you with this thought.

When I Say "I Am A Christian"

by Carol Wimmer

When I say..."I am a Christian"

I'm not shouting "I am saved"

I'm whispering "I get lost!"

"That is why I chose this way."

When I say..."I am a Christian"

don't speak of this with pride.

I'm confessing that I stumble

and need someone to be my guide.

When I say..."I am a Christian"

I'm not trying to be strong.

I'm professing that I'm weak

and pray for strength to carry on.

When I say..."I am a Christian"

I'm not bragging of success.

I'm admitting I have failed

and cannot ever pay the debt.

When I say..."I am a Christian"

I'm not claiming to be perfect,

my flaws are too visible

but God believes I'm worth it.

When I say..."I am a Christian"

I still feel the sting of pain

I have my share of heartaches

which is why I seek His name.

When I say..."I am a Christian"

I do not wish to judge.

I have no authority.

I only know I'm loved.

Suzanna,

Thank you for commenting.

I think the only ones who can forgive Keck are the Kitchen's, and they are dead.  Or their children.  Are you a relative of the Kitchen's?

Mr. Keck plead guilty to murdering two people.  If he was under treatment for his alcoholism he had no business being in a bar.  He had people he could ask for help. The people who need to ask for forgiveness are the bartenders who served Keck, knowing he was drunk and was going to drive drunk.

A statement of Christian righteousness; followed by a poem espousing the virtues of Christian humility. Well I’m a Christian too.

“It's so easy to set [sic] back and point fingers at others.  We, people that is, like to judge without any reprecussion [sic] to one self [sic].  I guess I've been miss informed [sic] all these years.  I didn't know God made "Scum of the earth disease".”

No, “scum of the earth disease” is not a creation of God. In my view, it is a manifestation of the devil; and it is my opinion of an evil condition of mortal man. Evil walks this earth, and I will not stifle my opinions when the face of evil crosses my path. I live and raise a family in this community. I will not be silent when the safety and wellbeing of law abiding citizens is threatened by someone who has repeatedly demonstrated a wanton disregard for order of law. “Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s…”

A review of Eddie Keck’s court history will make this point perfectly clear…

… and this is just the records from the State of Wisconsin. There are items that appear as multiple offenses with no priors listed. It can only be presumed that those priors occurred in other states.

Reconciliation and forgiveness, in my world, comes to those who seek it. Those, who seek it by actions; and not by words alone. Forgiveness is like respect, it needs to be earned, not handed out like popsicles on a hot summer afternoon.

Here’s a link to the Criminal Complaint related to the incident, including police and witness statements…(WARNING – It is not pleasant reading.)

media2.620wtmj.com/.../WTMJ%2012-28-07%20HitNRun%20Complaint.pdf

I can’t help but think; maybe Eddie Keck would have reconsidered his June guilty plea had he envisioned twelve people unwilling to make a judgment on his jury. At some point the realization may come that you’ve run out of cheeks to turn. Our society’s excessive tolerance, compassion and outright apathy, in many cases, is the bed in which evil sleeps.

I agree with Janet completely…

“I think the only ones who can forgive Keck are the Kitchen's, and they are dead.  Or their children.  Are you a relative of the Kitchen's?”

…on a personal level; the power of forgiveness lies with the Kitchen family. On a societal level; these types of habitual criminals need to be seen for what they are, and for the damage they do.
