Imperial Elegance
Waukesha Symphony begins their winter season with Rachmaninov's grandest concerto, the massive and spine-tingling "Rach 3," the subject of the movie Shine. The gifted young American pianist Andrew Armstrong, making a fine reputation these days with the Russian romantics, will meet the work's infamous challenges with aplomb. Our first half is a bouquet of gems from the late 19th century, from Dvorak's beloved Carnival to the riotous Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks of the young, rebellious Richard Strauss.  Carroll University, Shattuck Auditorium-- 7:30 -- www.waukeshasymphony.org -- 262-547-1858
